Dr. Bothel's Policy statement (1999) providing as the foundation philosophy for the support function of the Distance Learning Center at TSU. Distance Learning Center Saying that a good teacher has to be proficient in the use of the Internet and World Wide Web has no more validity than saying a good teacher has to be proficient with the use of chalk and the blackboard. Professional educators:
However, many educators value the opportunities that new instructional technologies have to offer. A primary goal of the Distance Learning Center at Troy State University is to help faculty and staffs have as much information as possible regarding the resources available to support flexible learning opportunities. One of our major objectives is to furnish group training and individual development sessions to as many-interested faculty as possible. We will also provide course and technology-use models that faculty may wish to incorporate into their learning activities for students. Our focus will be on the use of new electronic technologies, but we also will be glad to provide whatever support we can for course structure and development. We are here to assist faculty and staff in providing the most effective support possible to student learning. We are here to help! Dr. Richard Thomas Bothel 5.19.99
